why do some people have to take their shoes off when going through airport security?
just got back home from an interstate trip and while we were going through airport security, everyone who was wearing boots had to take them off when they went through the metal detector and I thought they were going to make everyone take off their shoes but only the people who were wearing boots and I am wondering why??? as aren't the boots made of leather and fabric not metal and the people I saw with boots had no buckles or straps on their boots. ( it was in Australia not America because I know how security crazy they are over there.
One big reason, Richard Reid, the "Shoe Bomber." Reid packed some explosives in his shoes and tried to blow up a plane but failed. The TSA just wants to make sure you haven't pacded some C4 or other explosives in your shoes.
